Principal Operations Engineer, Reliability

Responsibilities

• Take on-call escalation for site issues, triage virtually, decide escalations to keep field crews focused.
• Travel to sites (50%+) for live incidents, post-incident reviews, and to share best practices.
• Own root cause analysis (RCA) on significant events through closure; track and drive corrective actions to eliminate classes of failures.
• Identify patterns across fleet incidents and RCAs; prioritize and push highest-value learnings to closure.
• Disseminate learnings and practices across campuses to standardize fixes before failures repeat.
• Develop operational assessment standards; audit campuses and feed findings into corrective action processes.

Requirements

• Experience running live critical operations and leading teams of operators, with judgment from owning the floor during incidents.
• Experience triaging site problems remotely, knowing when to escalate vs. let field teams work.
• Proven ability to author impactful RCAs that close classes of failures (not just tickets) and track corrective actions.
• Ability to prioritize RCA actions to focus on what matters most, avoiding overcommitment.
• Experience traveling between sites, improving operations, standardizing practices, writing standards, and conducting unflinching audits.
• Experience building assessment, audit, qualification, or training programs from scratch.

Nice-to-Haves

• Hyperscale or large colocation experience at hundreds of MW+.
• Direct exposure to hardware or network operations (beyond facilities).
• Experience with incident.io or equivalent incident tooling.
• Experience with DCIM systems.
