Quality Engineering Team Lead

Impact in First Year

• Own CI/CD systems end-to-end: audit current state, redesign as needed, drive improvements in pipeline reliability, build/test cycle time, and developer experience within first six months.
• Lead adoption of standardized QE practices and testing frameworks across engineering teams, reducing inconsistency in coverage and establishing shared quality standards within first year.
• Drive increased automation of QE processes using AI-assisted tooling (e.g. Claude, Codex, Cursor) to accelerate development velocity.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 1-3 Quality Engineers, supporting technical development, career growth, and effectiveness to improve team velocity and reduce defect escape rates.
• Partner with Engineering and Product to shift quality left in the development lifecycle, prioritizing defect prevention.
• Establish structured knowledge sharing and process documentation to scale team impact.

Requirements

• Proven track record owning and operating CI/CD systems at scale (CircleCI, GitHub Actions or equivalent), including redesigning pipelines for reliability and speed.
• Deep expertise in CI/CD tooling and infrastructure; able to independently evaluate, modernize, and scale systems.
• Strong proficiency in test automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium or equivalent) with a clear philosophy on test strategy and coverage.
• Solid background in Quality Engineering or SDET, including designing and implementing test automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Demonstrated use of AI-assisted coding tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor) to automate testing and accelerate workflows.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills; comfortable as individual contributor and as quality leader.
• Prior experience leading or mentoring a small engineering team (even informally).
