Engineering Productivity Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the engineering experience from local development setup through production deployment.
• Stabilize and make local development environments reproducible across teams; improve onboarding and self-service setup.
• Improve IDE and editor tooling, extensions, code search, indexing, and navigation.
• Build project scaffolding, templates, and golden-path workflows.
• Improve testing tooling, test orchestration, ephemeral end-to-end environments, mutation testing, and chaos testing.
• Optimize build and test performance, CI pipelines, parallelization, test sharding, caching, and bottleneck resolution.
• Integrate and optimize code review tooling and automated review.
• Evaluate, integrate, and promote AI coding agents and assistants while maintaining quality and maintainability.
• Build and curate skills, extensions, and plugins for AI-assisted development tools.
• Measure the impact of AI tooling and engineering productivity initiatives.
• Track productivity metrics and feedback loops, including DORA metrics, to identify and reduce cycle-time loss.
• Track code-quality signals such as coverage and mutation testing, and build quality dashboards.
• Establish automation and practices that detect issues early in the development cycle.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience focused on developer productivity, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust, and shell.
• Experience with CI/CD systems and pipeline optimization, such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Octopus, or Harness.
• Experience with local development environments, reproducibility, devcontainers, Nix, and Docker.
• Experience with containerization and image optimization.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, coding agents, and IDE assistants.
• Experience with test infrastructure, test orchestration, ephemeral end-to-end environments, flaky-test management, mutation testing, or chaos testing.
• Experience with code review and developer workflow tooling.
• Experience with monorepo tooling, build systems, package managers, build caching, and remote execution, including pnpm, Nx, Turborepo, or Bazel.
• Experience with developer productivity metrics and data-driven feedback loops, including DORA.
• Ability to create stable, reproducible local development environments across teams.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working asynchronously or with globally distributed teams.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and moving quickly.
