Finance Lead

Own Spade’s financial planning, accounting operations, cash management, and strategic finance as its first finance hire. The role partners with executive leadership on growth decisions, reporting, fundraising, and building scalable finance infrastructure.

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop budgets and forecasts, monitor budget versus actuals, and build dashboards for revenue growth, burn rate, and go-to-market metrics.
  • Own the monthly close process and partner with an accounting firm to ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial records.
  • Manage invoices, payables, and receivables.
  • Track cash runway and working capital.
  • Partner with the CEO and COO on financial strategy and scenario planning.
  • Provide analysis for pricing, hiring, and market expansion decisions, challenging assumptions with data.
  • Implement finance tools and software.
  • Establish internal controls and financial policies to support scalable growth.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the board and investors.
  • Support fundraising through data room preparation and investor due diligence requests.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a finance role.
  • 2+ years in-house at a high-growth B2B startup.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS and usage-based business metrics.
  • Familiarity with usage-based or consumption pricing models and their implications for revenue recognition and forecasting.
  • Generalist finance skills, including foundational accounting and bookkeeping knowledge, strong FP&A skills, and advanced financial modeling.
  • Experience supporting a fundraising process, including data room preparation, investor diligence, and financial narrative development.
  • Strong strategic partnership skills and comfort working with and presenting to leadership.
  • Based in NYC with the ability to work from the Flatiron office at least two days per week.

  • Background in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting.
