About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation for studies of rodent inner ear cellular biology.
  • Collect and analyze biological data about relationships among and between organisms and their environment.
  • Operate laboratory equipment to analyze samples.
  • Analyze laboratory findings.
  • Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data.
  • Provide technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life.
  • Assist with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures.
  • Prepare, organize and maintain various lab samples, supplies, and equipment.
  • Learn new laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Manage transgenic mouse colonies.
  • Collect and interpret microscopy data.
  • Provide written summaries of experimental findings, including figures and interpretations for internal review, publications, and presentations.
  • Provide periodic summaries of relevant scientific literature to support experimental design and methodology selection.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory logs, reagent tracking, and equipment maintenance documentation.
  • Provide updates (oral or written) during lab meetings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a biological field (Miscellaneous Biology preferred).
  • Experience with transgenic mice and mouse colony management.
  • Experience with sample preparation for confocal microscopy.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art confocal microscopy systems.
  • Experience with computational analysis of microscopy data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
