Staff Software Engineer - Parameters

Responsibilities

• Lead, build and improve Snowflake’s feature flagging and experimentation platform
• Work on complex framework and code used across Snowflake’s engineering stack to control feature flags
• Build a deep understanding of Snowflake’s infrastructure and services
• Contribute to building and operating highly scalable, resilient, and performant infrastructure
• Work on large and complex projects that build frameworks, platforms, tools, and automation for other engineering teams
• Partner with engineering teams to understand requirements, translate into projects with milestones, and lead implementation
• Build intuitive and resilient APIs and libraries for developers and customers
• Evangelize and drive adoption of the platform and frameworks
• Support junior team members and contribute with excellent code quality, documentation, and best practices

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on distributed systems
• Deep experience building and operating large scale cloud services
• Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, C++, or Python
• Solid understanding of system performance, debugging, and reliability engineering principles
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence architecture decisions
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Strong sense of ownership and desire to build great tools & frameworks for other engineers
• Tremendous attention to detail and ability to build reliable and scalable software systems
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Proven ability to lead and execute projects that begin with incomplete information or ambiguity
