About the role
Responsibilities
Lead complex projects across key company-wide objectives on the Privacy Functional Team
Protect user privacy using Go, Node.js, Python, and Perl to write pragmatic, performant, testable code
Design systems for improving search indexes and AI features without compromising user privacy
Build new features on top of Tracker Radar crawler to detect emerging privacy threats
Implement new privacy features and maintain existing ones (Web Tracking Protection, Email Protections)
Own major components of privacy technology, taking responsibility for maintenance and improvement
Participate in privacy review and audit processes to ensure product developments align with privacy principles
Mentor other engineers and support career growth of the Privacy Team
Requirements
Ability to lead and collaborate on high-impact and complex projects from proposal through post-mortem
Skills to wrangle vague problems, propose innovative solutions, and execute them effectively
Experience working on privacy solutions in an engineering capacity (e.g., tracker blocker, differential privacy, or similar technology)
Deep technical understanding of online privacy threats and the existing solution space
Proficiency in any of the following: Go, Node.js, Python, Perl
Excellent communication skills; ability to validate decisions and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
