Responsibilities
Research and assess the operation of the organization's scientific programs.
Collaborate with and support program officers on existing projects and/or the development, initiation and execution of new project initiatives.
Compile and assess program activities to identify challenges and develop recommendations for improvement.
Assist in conducting literature searches and provide summaries of findings as part of preliminary planning for new research activities and directions.
Track action items and tasks, provide deadline reminders to Program staff; maintain spreadsheets of relevant information.
Prepare slide sets on achievements of FIC grantees for scientific and programmatic presentations at conferences and meetings.
Research, interpret and summarize background materials from a variety of scientific sources.
Conduct literature searches in PubMed, Web of Science and other information sources; manage references using bibliographic software.
Conduct search for material for a specific programmatic need, using a NIH and other scientific databases to search for material in many cases.
Create scientific search criteria for locating scientific, program and related information on the internet and other means, including literature and database searches.
Compile data and create and prepare graphs, slides and presentations.

Provide technical experience and assistance needed to support the administration and monitoring of extramural grants and cooperative agreements.
Work with program officers to develop and update funding opportunities for career development, research, and training programs.
Work with program officers to conduct the administrative eligibility review of the applications.
Monitor and track the status of applications at the following stages: peer review, award issuance, progress reporting, and post-award administration.
Draft requests for co-funding from other NIH Institutes and Centers.
Work with staff to draft pay plans for grants that will be funded.
Plan, organize and coordinate regular meetings with co-funding partners and project scientists involved in cooperative agreement awards.
Liaise with the NIH Office of the Director for Congressional inquiries, reporting, and justifications related to FIC.
Attend regular meetings to provide needed information on FIC activities.
Report back to FIC OD on relevant updates.
Coordinate with NIH OD, FIC OD, and other FIC divisions to develop language for Congressional justifications.
Requirements
Master’s degree (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience conducting literature searches in PubMed, Web of Science and other scientific databases.
Experience with bibliographic software for managing references.
Experience designing, developing and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, Listservs, PowerPoint presentations and other computer applications.
Experience performing logistical planning for scientific meetings, workshops, and events.
Experience supporting the administration and monitoring of extramural grants and cooperative agreements.
Strong skills in data compilation, analysis, visualization (graphs, slides), report writing, and summarizing scientific materials.
Ability to track action items, manage deadlines, and maintain organized records.
Experience liaising with senior offices for reporting and Congressional justifications.
