About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite health and safety inspections, hazard and risk assessments, ergonomics activities, and follow-up on findings at the San Francisco office and across US sites.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Manage occupational health cases from initial report through return-to-work and closure, coordinating with occupational health providers, HR, and Legal.
  • Own OSHA recordkeeping for US sites, including the annual 300/300A process.
  • Support health and safety committees and volunteer emergency response teams by facilitating meetings, coordinating drills, and tracking action items.
  • Deliver and coordinate health and safety training across US offices.
  • Manage occupational health, ergonomics, training, and audit vendors.
  • Work with landlords, building management, and contractors to maintain safe shared environments.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, registers, and reporting systems.
  • Contribute field knowledge and tactical support to broader health and safety programs and standards.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a hands-on health and safety role, ideally operating programs day to day.
  • Strong working knowledge of US federal OSHA and California Title 8 (Cal/OSHA) requirements.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear decisions and advocate for safe practices.
  • Ability to motivate and persuade others to collaborate, take action, and engage with health and safety programs.
  • Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Strong writing skills for SOPs, playbooks, and program documents.
  • Ability to create engaging presentations and training content.
  • Hands-on experience with software for incident reporting, risk assessment, learning management, and related functions.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with health and safety requirements in Washington and New York.
  • CSP, ASP/GSP, CIH, COHN, or comparable US-recognized health and safety or occupational-health credentials.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001.
  • Background in occupational health, fire safety, or industrial hygiene.
  • Experience operating programs across multiple US states or sites.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to quickly learn new applications and systems.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary: $180,000–$230,000 USD.
  • Onsite role based in the San Francisco office, typically requiring at least four days per week in person.
  • Occasional travel to other US offices, including Seattle and New York City, expected at approximately 5–10%.
