Software Engineer - Simulation, Game Engine & World Systems

Build high-performance world and scene representation systems for a multi-agent autonomy simulation stack. The role requires strong C++20 systems expertise, computational geometry experience, and a background in game engines, simulation, robotics, or autonomous systems.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement world and scene representation systems for large-scale, multi-agent simulation environments.
  • Build spatial data structures including Entity Component System frameworks, spatial indexing, occupancy representations, and 4D object management.
  • Develop and optimize computational geometry and world-state systems between raw sensor data and path planning, including coordinate frames, spatial queries, and environment abstraction layers.
  • Write highly optimized C++20 code focused on low latency, cache efficiency, memory-conscious design, profiling, allocation elimination, and real-time performance.
  • Drive architectural decisions and design clean APIs supporting integration across air, ground, and maritime autonomy stacks.
  • Use Python and shell scripting for tooling and automation.
  • Travel as required, potentially up to once per month for up to one week, approximately 20%.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with expertise in spatial systems, world modeling, or simulation environments.
  • Expert-level C++ skills, including C++20 or later, template metaprogramming, move semantics, SIMD, and systems-level performance optimization.
  • Experience building world or scene representations in a game engine, simulation platform, or autonomous system, including dynamic object state, spatial indexing, and real-time updates.
  • Strong background in computational geometry, coordinate transformations, spatial data structures, geometric algorithms, and collision or proximity systems.
  • Experience designing low-latency, high-throughput software for real-time environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and shell scripting.
  • Experience with agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to Have

  • Linux, Docker, C++, Nix, Bazel, and cross-compilation experience.
  • Experience with temporal reasoning systems and 4D scene representation.
  • Background in game development, simulation, or virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of physics engines and collision detection systems.
  • Understanding of autonomous systems or robotics software architectures.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: $110,000–$150,000.
  • Compensation may also include equity, health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off.
