Pipeline Engineer
Build production systems that connect graphics and computer vision research with a 3D web product. The role develops Python-heavy backend services, APIs, and tooling for reliable 3D workflows while collaborating across research and frontend teams.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Bridge graphics/computer vision research and product engineering to ship reliable 3D features.
- Turn standalone Python scripts and prototypes into production-ready systems with clear inputs, outputs, validation, and failure modes.
- Develop backend services, APIs, and tooling for scalable 3D workflows.
- Integrate 3D asset import/export and format-conversion workflows with common DCC tools.
- Design parameter schemas and defaults connecting frontend controls with backend APIs and pipeline configurations.
- Improve documentation, tutorials, example code, and error messages to increase usability and reduce misuse.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python, including packaging, typing, tooling, debugging, and performance profiling.
- Strong understanding of 3D graphics and computer vision concepts, including transforms, cameras, coordinate systems, rendering, and visual artifact debugging.
- Experience taking prototypes to production through refactoring, testing, CI/CD, versioned artifacts, and reproducibility.
- Solid backend fundamentals, including HTTP APIs, FastAPI or similar frameworks, asynchronous/concurrent programming, cloud deployment, and service reliability.
- Familiarity with 3D algorithms, DCC tools, and common 3D file formats.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with photogrammetry, 3D reconstruction, or Gaussian splat rendering pipelines.
- Experience with Blender, Maya, Houdini, Unreal, or Unity.
- Familiarity with CUDA, PyTorch, batch/queue systems, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience collaborating on React-based parameter plumbing and user interfaces for technical controls.
- Experience with production pipelines at VFX, animation, or gaming studios.
- Production support experience and a willingness to improve documentation, tutorials, and error messages.
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $200,000–$325,000.
