About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own credit risk strategy across areas such as model prototyping, credit limits, payment speed, and collections.
  • Use SQL, quantitative reasoning, and credit risk judgment to investigate patterns, size opportunities, define policy changes, and pressure-test recommendations.
  • Build practical tools, apps, dashboards, agents, notebooks, QA loops, monitors, and decisioning processes when workflows do not yet exist.
  • Use AI tools for research, analysis, coding, synthesis, writing, verification, and follow-through.
  • Build AI into credit risk workflows, including feature exploration, policy monitoring, case review, exception handling, decision support, documentation, and human-in-the-loop QA.
  • Investigate data sources and model features; evaluate signal quality, coverage, failure modes, and effects on credit decisions.
  • Make ambiguous credit risk decisions while balancing loss, customer experience, operational burden, growth, compliance, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Risk Operations, Finance, Customer Experience, and Compliance to execute and build risk-management infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in credit risk management or a quantitative strategy role.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using SQL or Python for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Demonstrable AI fluency, including the ability to explain tools used, show an artifact, describe a recent failure mode, and explain verification performed before using the output in a credit risk decision.
  • Demonstrated ownership in ambiguous situations: define the question, obtain data, make decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and drive follow-through.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to turn complex credit risk decisions into clear narratives for leadership and cross-functional partners.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience building credit risk systems for card or expense-management products.
  • Experience in high-growth startups or rapidly changing operating environments.
  • Experience working with Operations teams.

Compensation and Benefits

  • ATS salary range: $108,000–$200,000 annual base salary.
  • Expected New York City base salary ranges by level:
    • Analyst: $108,000–$148,000
    • Associate: $140,000–$192,000
    • Senior Associate: $160,000–$200,000
  • Equity and benefits are additional.

  • Relocation support to NYC or SF may be available.
