About the role

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide legal support for all business aspects.
  • Work on privacy, regulatory, compliance, U.S. and international business partnerships.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex master agreements with enterprise customers and support Sales to close high-value deals.
  • Support consumer privacy initiatives (GDPR, CCPA, COPPA) and manage worldwide privacy program.
  • Develop and improve policies, forms, trainings, and processes for compliance with US, European, and international laws.
  • Draft and negotiate strategic partnership agreements.
  • Review new uses of personal data for compliance with data protection laws.
  • Advise on industry, consumer protection, advertising, IP, privacy, and data security laws.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, data protection, content regulation, consumer protection, accessibility, cybersecurity, and advertising laws.
  • Draft, update, and maintain forms, standard terms, and public-facing documents.
  • Develop trusted relationships and improve internal processes.
  • Provide legal analyses of laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially privacy/personal data.

Requirements

  • 8-15 years of combined relevant experience as in-house counsel in tech start-up and/or major law firm.
  • Excellent legal and business judgment; ability to analyze practical risks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication of complex legal matters in plain language.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiating skills.
  • Business-minded with ability to align solutions with business goals.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with privacy and data protection (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR) and cybersecurity laws.
  • Current license to practice law in California.
