About the role
Responsibilities
Contribute new features, improvements, and bug fixes across the team’s codebases.
Own complex systems work end-to-end, from design through delivery and production support.
Work across product surfaces, backend services, CI/CD, reliability, and operational workflows.
Participate in the complete feature lifecycle, including planning, development, release oversight, and customer support.
Develop testing strategies and write unit and integration tests.
Document work thoroughly, report issues effectively, and submit well-documented merge requests.
Participate in and review RFCs/RFDs and provide thoughtful peer feedback through code reviews.
Empower customer support to resolve product issues and help prioritize customer feedback.
Participate in refinement, prioritization, and group estimation.
Identify and address improvement opportunities such as repository cleanup, community engagement tooling, and IDE integration ergonomics.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of Rust.
Experience owning complex systems work from design through production support.
Strong technical judgment and pragmatic tradeoff-making across quality, speed, reliability, and maintainability.
Ability to ramp quickly into complex codebases and ambiguous problem spaces.
Effective collaboration across Product, Design, Security, Browser, Backend, and Infrastructure teams.
Experience using AI tooling for development, testing, debugging, documentation, and code exploration.
Ability to validate, review, and safely apply AI-assisted work in production systems.
Nice-to-haves
Strong experience building backend services in Go.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
Compensation and benefits
USA-based roles: annual base salary of $123,000 USD–$172,000 USD, plus health, dental, 401(k), paid time off, equity, and applicable incentive programs.
Canada-based roles: annual base salary of $111,000 CAD–$155,000 CAD, plus health, dental, RRSP, paid time off, equity, and applicable incentive programs.
The developer will build, test, release, and support complex software systems across product surfaces, backend services, reliability, and operational workflows. Strong Rust expertise, end-to-end systems ownership, and sound technical judgment are required; Go and AWS experience are advantageous.
