Systems Engineer, Network Automation

Build and maintain scalable software, infrastructure, and services for network automation, improving resilience and reducing operational toil. The role requires 3+ years of software development experience, Python or Go proficiency, Linux expertise, database and observability experience, and familiarity with networking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build software solutions that improve network resilience and reduce engineering operational toil.
  • Develop and maintain tools, infrastructure, and services that solve problems efficiently and deliver practical, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
  • Leverage AI tools and automated assistants to streamline daily workflows.
  • Work with internal and external customer requirements and expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience developing software components for network automation.
  • Understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and programming languages such as Python and Go.
  • Proficiency with modern Unix/Linux operating systems and distributions.
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or equivalent SQL technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD, containers, and/or virtualization.
  • Experience with observability systems such as Prometheus and Grafana, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience working with AI assistants or automated tools to augment task execution and project delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of networking engineering, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols and vendor equipment such as Cisco and Juniper.
  • Experience building and maintaining large distributed systems.
  • Experience managing internal and/or external customer requirements and expectations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Portugal-based hires: estimated annual salary of €54,000–€68,000.
