Software Engineer, Enterprise Expansion

Responsibilities

• Build and own systems and solutions that enable enterprise customers to organize, manage, and secure Retool at scale.
• Improve the full customer journey, including administrator setup and onboarding, work discovery and management, and scaling spaces and instances for thousands of employees.
• Develop across the full technical stack, including full-stack web applications, data pipelines, and product infrastructure.
• Redesign administrator onboarding and management experiences, including landing pages, global search, guided setup, security insights, and platform-health dashboards.
• Build Projects as an organizational primitive for grouping apps, agents, and workflows with membership and role-based permissions.
• Design data models, permissions layers, and user interfaces for scalable team workspaces.
• Build AI cost visibility and control systems, including telemetry pipelines, backend services, usage analytics, and governance experiences.
• Develop controls for managing multiple Retool Spaces and instances from a centralized interface.
• Enforce organization-wide policies and identify configuration deviations from compliance requirements.
• Own technically challenging, cross-functional projects from start to finish.
• Communicate clearly through design documents, code reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
• Maintain high code quality, testing standards, and reliable, scalable software.

Requirements

• 2–8 years of professional software engineering experience on high-impact teams, ideally including startup experience.
• Strong fundamentals across the entire stack.
• Strong understanding of backend systems design, data modeling, and reliable, scalable software development.
• Motivation to solve real customer problems.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Exposure to dbt, Databricks, or data pipeline tooling.
• Familiarity with billing, cost controls, and usage analytics.
• Familiarity with products or systems using user- and role-based access controls.
• Experience designing customer-facing UI/UX, platform management tools, and APIs.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base pay range: $163,800–$306,000 per year.
