About the role
Responsibilities
Develop high-quality C/C++ code for X-Bat aircraft avionics, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety
Lead cross-functional teams to implement advanced robotic avionics capabilities
Own complex software capabilities from design through production
Lead architecture initiatives, design, and code reviews
Integrate software from firmware, test/verification, Autonomy AI, and Ground Control Stations
Develop interfaces to modern avionics sensors, subsystems, and payloads
Lead software system architecture updates
Use modern tools to capture and design future architectures
Design and implement tests across virtualized hardware and hardware-in-the-loop simulations
Develop tools to enhance CI/CD workflows, test execution, and data analysis
Create prototypes to validate design concepts and assess technical limitations
Report status, risks, and accomplishments to senior leadership
Requirements
Strong embedded software development experience (BSP to complex applications) in C/C++
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and modern C++ features
Strong knowledge of embedded software, BSPs, and systems software components
Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and network protocols
Track record of ownership over development processes and features
Experience producing technical documentation (architecture, designs, test plans)
Proven track record of shipping products in fast-paced environments
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or STEM discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering)

Experience in fast-paced startup or R&D environments
Lead spacecraft architecture and technical baseline as Chief Program Engineer for GEO Space Domain Awareness missions. Own system-level budgets, requirements traceability, and verification across full lifecycle while mentoring teams and interfacing with customers.
