Responsibilities
Build and maintain a container-based infrastructure that is elegant, redundant, scalable, and compliant
Deliver end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in a cloud environment
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in a reproducible and secure manner
Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues; perform root cause analysis
Collaborate with developers to ensure applications and services are built with scalability, reliability, and security in mind
Maintain highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
Develop custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention
Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, develop and implement solutions
Maintain security program controls and best practices; ensure HIPAA compliance
Make pragmatic decisions about technical tradeoffs, infrastructure costs, and resource utilization
Participate in on-call PagerDuty rotations
Requirements
5+ years of experience in DevOps
BS or advanced degree in computer science or related field
Experience deploying and monitoring web applications in AWS
Security-first mindset with experience building secure development and test environments integrated into CI/CD pipelines
Experience building and maintaining container-based infrastructure and Kubernetes
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform a plus) and infrastructure testing strategies
Experience with infrastructure automation, systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, logging
Experience fully automating CI/CD pipelines with CircleCI and GitHub Actions
Experience working in regulated environments with data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA preferred)
Build the Site Reliability Engineering function from the ground up at Forward, defining SLOs, building observability infrastructure, leading incident response, and embedding reliability into the SDLC for their complex SaaS platform. Requires 6+ years SRE/DevOps experience, strong networking and Kubernetes skills, and a track record maturing SRE practices.
