What You’ll Do
- Own Complex Systems End-to-End: Break down complex projects into executable tasks, provide accurate estimates for multi-quarter work, and deliver on time.
- Build and Scale Core Production Systems: Architect, build, and scale software and systems that power Rokt's ecommerce platform - services that demand low latency, high throughput, and rock-solid reliability.
- Raise the Bar on Engineering Quality: Own system health, monitoring, and architectural decisions. Act as first responder during incidents and promote best practices across your team.
- Accelerate Development with AI: Leverage AI tools and automation to speed up coding, testing, and deployment across the team. Build libraries, frameworks, and tooling that others can use.
- Mentor and Multiply: Coach junior engineers through pairing, code review, and structured feedback. Shape team processes and participate in recruiting the next generation of Rokt engineers.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Partner cross-functionally (product, Machine Learning Research, Go-to-Market) to align engineering delivery with business objectives. Communicate progress clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements
- Experience: 3-5+ years of commercial software development experience. You've shipped production systems and can point to work you owned.
- Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong in one or more programming languages (e.g Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, Go). You reason well about system design, data structures, algorithms, and trade-offs.
- Domain depth: Experience with web application development, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) & Kubernetes, API development, or data platform engineering. Distributed systems experience valued but not required.
- AI-Fluency: You treat AI tools as force multipliers and stay current with the tooling landscape. You know when to lean on them and when the problem demands your own judgment.
- Problem Solving: You break down ambiguous problems using first principles, organise work into manageable tasks, and know when to escalate.
- Communication: You explain complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
- Ownership: You are comfortable driving projects end-to-end, taking accountability for outcomes and following through, with business and customers front-of-mind.
Target total compensation: $245,000 - $360,000, including a fixed annual salary of $170,000 - $235,000, an employee equity plan grant, and world-class benefits.
