- Own and ship projects with real technical and product impact for sellers.
- Build a redesigned vision for how sellers manage and sell inventory on Whatnot.
- Design, build, and operate APIs and backend services in production.
- Define and complete loosely scoped work independently.
- Ship products and features quickly while advocating for optimal trade-offs.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, focused on backend systems and services.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience designing, building, and operating APIs and backend services (primarily Python and Elixir).
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling for transactional systems.
- Excellent product instincts prioritizing seller and buyer experience.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS).
- API design (GraphQL, REST).
- E-commerce or marketplace domains (catalog systems, inventory management, order fulfillment).
