Senior Contracts Manager
Discord is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to join their Legal team. This role involves managing commercial and marketing legal matters, drafting and negotiating agreements, and advising on marketing programs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own day-to-day legal relationships with key client groups including marketing, policy, and procurement teams, advising on deals, campaigns, and risk mitigation with fluency across adjacent legal areas including privacy, employment, and IP
- Advise on marketing programs — including contests, giveaways, and influencer marketing — and partner with IP, privacy, and product counsel to review and clear promotional materials for legal compliance
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including marketing, procurement, advertising, vendor, partnership, and licensing agreements
- Independently scope and resolve complex or novel matters, defining the path forward where established playbooks don't exist
- Build and own scalable processes, templates, playbooks, and fallback positions that enable efficient and consistent deal execution
- Develop and deliver training materials, internal guidelines, and legal memos to upskill cross-functional partners and improve legal self-service
- Master the team's legal operations tools, including CLM, and leverage them to improve workflows and reporting
What you should have
- 6-8+ years of combined in-house legal experience, preferably at a consumer technology company, with broad commercial contracting exposure across marketing, procurement, and cross-functional business teams
- Proven track record drafting and negotiating commercial agreements in fast-paced environments, including advising on marketing programs and reviewing promotional materials for legal compliance
- Experience owning client relationships and serving as a primary legal point of contact, with strong stakeholder management skills across legal, product, marketing, finance, and procurement teams
- Demonstrated ability to independently define scope, drive resolution on complex or ambiguous matters, and structure deals that balance legal risk with business objectives
- Track record of building and owning processes, templates, or playbooks that scale legal support, paired with strong project management skills across multiple concurrent matters
- Clear, practical communicator with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for business audiences
- Commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of work
Bonus Points
- Experience at a social media, gaming, or creator economy platform
- Familiarity with digital advertising agreements, including insertion orders and agency/holding company relationships
- Deep familiarity with privacy law principles (US and international) as they apply to marketing and advertising
- Passion for experimenting with AI tools to improve legal processes or output
- Experience implementing CLM systems and other legal operations tools
