Senior Backend Software Engineer - Core Services

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the API server codebase and developer experience.
• Implement changes to APIs and SDKs that facilitate server/client communication.
• Introduce code patterns and tools to improve developer ergonomics.
• Identify and improve inefficiencies in the backend codebase.
• Design and redesign critical system components as systems scale and become more complex.
• Share engineering best practices with engineers across the company.
• Collaborate with peers inside and outside the team on application architecture and implementation decisions.
• Investigate challenges involving scalability, security, and architectural design.
• Participate in an occasional on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience with successful projects using TypeScript and Node.js.
• 2+ years of experience writing scalable, testable, performant server-side code.
• 2+ years of experience creating project breakdown and technical documentation for team members with varying levels of expertise.
• Willingness to mentor, train, and collaborate with other teams through documentation and live sessions.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD systems such as GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab.

Compensation and Benefits

• Target salary range: $140,000–$155,000.
