Sr. Full Stack Software Engineer - Product Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead medium-to-large scale initiatives, partnering with teammates and adhering to software development best practices to ship high quality software continuously and iteratively.
• Collaborate with Product & Design teams to build delightful experiences that help customers save and invest.
• Balance innovation with application performance and security.
• Maintain high work quality standards, mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Create efficiency through clean code, rigorous testing, and pragmatic programming.
• Collaborate in small groups to improve Betterment’s software.
• Contribute to open communication and problem-solving.

Requirements

• Strong experience in object-oriented programming; Ruby on Rails preferred. Experience with Java, Python, C#, or Node.js welcomed.
• Proficiency in building frontend applications using React.js or similar framework.
• Experience building APIs using GraphQL.
• Proficiency with relational databases, including designing schemas and writing detailed SQL queries.
• Strong command of fundamental algorithms and data structures.
• Proven ability to lead and manage projects spanning one or more teams, considering tradeoffs for on-time delivery with high standards of quality, performance, and security.
• Passion for building delightful frontend interfaces and components.
• Passion for ongoing learning and knowledge-sharing.
• Adept at approaching complex engineering challenges with innovative solutions.

Compensation

• Base salary: $170,000 - $195,000 (New York City)
