Senior Software Engineer, Streaming

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain real-time infrastructure for autonomous drones, including video streaming and telemetry services.
• Design and operate massively concurrent, low-latency distributed systems processing terabytes of data daily.
• Tackle performance and scalability challenges with real-world impact.
• Shape the evolution of real-time frameworks to enable engineering teams to build sophisticated, stateful applications efficiently.
• Optimize performance over constrained network connections.
• Advance technologies like Skydio Connect Fusion to enhance reliability, responsiveness, and product capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and running complex distributed systems.
• Experience with distributed messaging systems like Apache Pulsar or Kafka.
• Prior experience implementing continuous deployment for complex stateful systems.
• Passion for tackling complex problems across connectivity, backend services, and infrastructure components.
• Obtain FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment (strongly encouraged; required for certain positions).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with real-time media delivery infrastructure such as Livekit or MediaMTX.
• Experience with streaming protocols such as WebRTC, QUIC, HLS.
• Experience with low-level video protocols and codecs such as H264, H265, RTP.
• Experience with Go.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary range: $200,000 - $240,000.
