Senior Software Engineer II, Data Platform

Senior software engineer building and evolving Fetch’s data platform, including pipelines, governed data access, delivery infrastructure, and partner integrations. Responsibilities

  • Identify and solve ambiguous, complex technical problems within the team’s problem space.
  • Define and drive solutions spanning multiple projects or systems, including migrations and phased rollouts.
  • Raise standards for code quality, reliability, operational safety, and engineering efficiency.
  • Improve team velocity and reduce operational overhead through tools, processes, and platform capabilities.
  • Shape technical direction, communicate trade-offs, and align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product, TPM, and partner engineering teams.
  • Mentor peers and junior engineers and provide constructive upward feedback.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing technical scope and ownership.
  • Strong platform or backend engineering experience building reliable, scalable systems.
  • Experience independently scoping and executing solutions to ambiguous technical problems.
  • Experience owning systems used by multiple teams or consumers.
  • Experience improving code quality, system health, engineering practices, or operational reliability.
  • Experience contributing to or leading cross-team initiatives, migrations, or phased rollouts.
  • Understanding of data infrastructure fundamentals, including pipelines, governed data access, and delivery at scale.
  • Strong judgment regarding code reviews, rollout safety, monitoring, and operational risk.
  • Mentorship experience with peer or junior engineers.
  • Fluency in modern software ecosystems, including Kubernetes, event streaming, CI/CD, observability tooling, and AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Ability to communicate technical trade-offs and build alignment without formal authority.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, evolving environments with measurable outcomes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data delivery, connectors, clean rooms, DSP integrations, or similar partner-facing data infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance-aware system design.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems or migrating to newer architectures.
  • Exposure to AdTech, MarTech, or data-monetization ecosystems.
  • Experience improving reliability, latency, or developer velocity on data- or integration-heavy platforms.
  • Experience providing upward feedback or mentoring across levels without formal management responsibility.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: $175,591–$206,578 USD.
