About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement network architectures for V-BAT, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.
  • Integrate V-BAT with external networks, including ground-based radio and satellite networks.
  • Develop and maintain communication protocols and network management systems for unmanned aerial system operations.
  • Optimize network performance for low-bandwidth, high-latency, and high-packet-loss mission profiles.
  • Develop software to implement, configure, and provision networking equipment.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, and operators to deliver comprehensive network solutions.
  • Test and validate network systems in laboratory and field environments.
  • Apply current network technologies and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, master's degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and deploying network systems that support real-time applications.
  • Strong understanding of OSI networking layers, especially layers 1–4.
  • Knowledge of routing and switching concepts and protocols, including DNS, DHCP, GRE, IPsec, QoS, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VPNs, and QUIC.
  • Proficiency with network simulation and analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with network programming and tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
  • Experience with Linux, scripting, and command-line tools.
  • Experience developing software in C, C++, and/or Python.
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Track record of shipping products and delivering high-quality solutions in fast-paced development environments.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience developing networks for aerospace or autonomous systems.
  • Expertise in network security, firewalls, public key infrastructure, and industry best practices.
  • Experience customizing, deploying, and maintaining Yocto-based Linux distributions on hardware platforms.
