Staff Software Quality Engineer
Provides technical leadership for quality engineering by building automated end-to-end and performance testing frameworks for distributed systems. The role requires extensive software development experience, quality engineering leadership, and proficiency with Go, Python, or Java, plus Linux, CI/CD, and cloud familiarity.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the quality organization.
- Ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of critical use cases involving integrations with storage systems and compute frameworks.
- Develop end-to-end integration tests, automation frameworks, and tools for robust automated testing pipelines.
- Design and implement comprehensive testing frameworks while improving development and quality engineering team productivity.
- Standardize quality engineering processes and practices.
- Author and enhance test plans based on feature requirements, specifications, technical discussions, and engineering deep dives.
- Partner with product managers, solutions engineers, and engineering teams to understand customer workflows, investigate customer-facing issues, troubleshoot problems, and identify fixes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience with Go, Python, Java, or similar languages.
- In-depth understanding of distributed system design, architecture, and related challenges.
- 4+ years of relevant quality engineering experience, specifically in automation testing, end-to-end testing, test framework development, and testing leadership.
- Experience with agent-driven test frameworks and automation.
- Experience delivering quality software in large distributed systems, with an emphasis on functional and performance automation, workloads, and testing.
- In-depth knowledge of quality best practices, techniques, and methodologies for continuous quality improvement.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment systems such as Jenkins.
- Experience developing software on Linux systems.
- Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Working proficiency in verbal and written English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks.
- High proficiency in Go, Python, or Java.
- Interest and ability to learn additional programming languages as needed.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining an open-source project.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative programming environment.
- Contributions to Alluxio.
