Staff Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure
Leads development of Coinbase’s CI, build, and deployment infrastructure used by engineers across the organization. The role requires 8+ years building production distributed systems, strong Go or systems-language expertise, and demonstrated technical leadership across complex platform initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration, from design through production operation.
- Identify high-leverage problems, turn ambiguous challenges into technical roadmaps, and drive alignment across dependent teams.
- Improve build and CI wall time, deployment speed and safety, and developer feedback latency.
- Lead cross-cutting initiatives such as large-scale platform migrations across many teams.
- Own SLOs, observability, and on-call for developer infrastructure; design systems for fast recovery and resilience.
- Partner with engineering customers, engineering managers, and leadership to shape technical strategy and drive organization-wide adoption.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and shared ownership.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating production distributed systems.
- Hands-on proficiency in Go or a comparable systems language.
- Direct experience with CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tooling.
- Experience designing and shipping high-impact backend or platform systems used by many engineers and services.
- Demonstrated technical leadership on cross-team initiatives, including architectural direction and organization-wide alignment.
- Deep operational expertise with reliability, observability, and rapid recovery for production systems.
- Strong cross-functional communication, mentoring, and design-review skills.
- Ability to use generative AI responsibly with human oversight.
Compensation
- Annual base salary: $218,025–$256,500 USD.
- Additional compensation may include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
