Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the technical vision to build products customers value.
• Develop and maintain low-latency, massively scalable developer-facing APIs.
• Build and maintain a robust data platform supporting data science teams.
• Design and implement systems that support product and company growth.
• Debug production issues across all levels of the stack.
• Collaborate effectively to deliver value to customers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building and scaling backend Python-based systems in fast-paced environments.
• Experience developing REST APIs and writing performant SQL.
• Experience building with AWS infrastructure.
• Experience building systems from scratch, making trade-offs, and executing autonomously in early-stage environments.
• Customer-focused mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Collaborative mindset, openness to mentorship, and focus on professional growth.
• Based in NYC with ability to work from the Flatiron office at least 2 days per week.

Nice-to-Haves

• Django proficiency.
• Familiarity with PySpark, Databricks, Delta Lake, and Hex.
• Experience with AWS CDK.
• Experience with transaction, merchant, or location data.
• Experience or interest in fintech or data products.
