Senior Director, Cloud Engineering

Leads a 60+ person Product Engineering organization responsible for Crusoe’s customer-facing cloud platform and managed services. The role requires 12+ years of software engineering experience, substantial leadership of large engineering organizations, and deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a 60+ person Product Engineering organization through senior managers and engineering leads.
  • Drive the roadmap for a customer-facing cloud platform and managed services.
  • Set direction for the developer portal, identity, billing, interfaces, registries, metrics, and managed logging.
  • Ship the roadmap with Product and Infrastructure while raising quality, reliability, security, and on-call rigor.
  • Lead major customer escalations and key product decisions when stakes are high.
  • Translate customer needs into platform capabilities with Sales and Solutions Engineering.
  • Build shared technical foundations with infrastructure and AI platform teams.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 5+ years leading organizations of 40–100+ engineers.
  • Experience leading Directors and senior Engineering Managers through organizational scale.
  • Experience owning a customer-facing cloud platform that customers pay for, such as IaaS, PaaS, or managed services.
  • Fluency with AI tooling and interest in advancing the AI ecosystem and user experience.
  • Expertise in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience maintaining quality and on-call discipline in growth-stage environments.
  • Ability to create structure and operating practices in ambiguous environments.
  • Direct, low-ego leadership style with the ability to raise standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience at AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, CoreWeave, Lambda Labs, or a similar cloud provider.
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms at scale.
  • Experience scaling engineering organizations through rapid growth.
  • Experience building products for developers and enterprises with a strong focus on user experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range of $325,000–$370,000 plus bonus.
