About the role

Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of well-scoped features and delivering them from implementation through production
  • Building and maintaining backend services within a distributed microservices architecture
  • Contributing to data-intensive applications, including real-time transaction decisioning, stream-processing, and machine learning
  • Participating in code reviews and contributing to a culture of engineering quality
  • Contributing to engineering best practices including testing, monitoring, and documentation
  • Collaborating with product, data, and business stakeholders to ship features that directly impact members

Requirements

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, with backend experience using a JVM language, preferably Java
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design principles
  • Experience with RDBMS or NoSQL databases
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with cloud-hosted services, like AWS or GCP
