Staff Software Engineer - Trading

Leads architecture and development of scalable backend software for a strategic trading product, using Java and cloud technologies. About the role

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain engineering solutions for complex problems.
  • Write well-designed, testable, clean, efficient, maintainable, scalable, and extensible code.
  • Lead individual project priorities, deadlines, and solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and partners.
  • Support business needs during US hours.
  • Represent engineering to clients and product support, and guide engineering communications.
  • Communicate technical ideas and set project direction while solving business challenges.
  • Mentor other engineers.
  • Participate in the design and development of a strategic product for Addepar.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Expert-level backend development experience, particularly with Java.
  • Experience with databases, SQL, NoSQL, OLAP, and/or data lake architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of software design patterns, API design, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to influence technical direction and contribute significantly to the architecture of complex, distributed systems.
  • Expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with automated infrastructure and service-oriented architecture in cloud environments.
  • Strong ownership mentality and drive to solve important problems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and related technologies.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and amplifying team impact.
