About the role
What you'll do
Own an integration end to end: design, code, and production system
Own architecture for auth/identity flows, multi-tenancy, data movement, performance, and production concerns
Run what you build, including being on-call, owning infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability
Work on top of external platforms with constraints like thin documentation and partner approval cycles
Partner closely with internal teams on interfaces and unblocking progress
Write design docs, RFCs, and set technical direction for the team
Requirements
5+ years building software, with experience on data-heavy or integration-flavored systems
Solid backend and systems instincts; able to reason about deployment topology, multi-tenancy, data movement, and architectural tradeoffs
Experience with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation across trust boundaries
Experience building on someone else's platform (incomplete docs, breaking changes)
Comfortable in ambiguity: ship before spec is finished, make calls under uncertainty, flag irreversible decisions
Strong collaboration skills to earn trust with engineers on teams you don't own
Primarily a backend engineer but comfortable in JavaScript / TypeScript
Effective use of AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot)
Strong written communication for design docs, PRs, and RFCs
Nice-to-haves
Familiarity with a major cloud data or analytics platform ecosystem
Real depth in auth and identity federation, or experience shipping through a partner marketplace or certification process
Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms, including isolation and deployment topology
Working knowledge of ClickHouse or another columnar / OLAP engine
Design and build authentication, authorization, and audit platform services including RBAC/ReBAC, token issuance, and SDKs. Requires 4+ years building production backend systems at scale and hands-on experience implementing auth services.
