About the role
What you'll do
Build and lead the Marketing PMO Team
Mature the PMO into a full governance function by operationalizing intake process, portfolio taxonomy, status rhythms, and escalation protocols for the full marketing project portfolio (flagship events, annual initiatives, international campaigns, regional activations). Design a hybrid methodology applying agile principles where appropriate and long-cycle project management where required.
Govern the marketing events portfolio: Own project management infrastructure for Pinterest's marketing events. Embed project managers as independent trackers and escalation owners. Ensure milestones hold, risks surface early, and blockers are cleared (marketers and event leads own creative/strategic work).
Own governance, not delivery: Position PMO as neutral party. Marketers own the work; PMO owns the system. Build culture where rigor is a service.
Lead portfolio prioritization with business management: Model capacity against demand; equip VP and C-suite sponsors with analysis for resource decisions. Act as credible planning partner to Finance on portfolio health and trade-offs.
Build and develop the team: Hire project managers who thrive as independent thinkers and escalators. Coach on stakeholder management and clear recommendations under ambiguity. Define metrics, benchmarks, and improvement cadence.
Build the PMO Technology Stack
Define and build the AI-powered infrastructure for the PMO: Own technology layer including planning/forecasting tools, automated scheduling/risk alerting, capacity modeling, reporting/dashboard generation, AI-assisted brief and SOW creation. Determine stack components, make build/buy/integrate decisions, ensure secure/scalable integration with existing systems (in partnership with marketing technical teams).
Set quality bar for technology outputs: Establish review cadence, accuracy thresholds, and escalation triggers for automated outputs. Accountable for integrity of full PMO output (human and AI-generated).
Evolve the stack as the function matures: Continuously assess technology capabilities, improvements needed, and where human judgment is essential. Make that line explicit and hold both accountable.
What we're looking for

Proven ability to partner across creative, marketing, communications and brand disciplines; sought out for structural clarity and objectivity.

Experience designing a hybrid project management methodology (agile and long-cycle) in a marketing or media environment.
Experience governing a marketing events portfolio including large-scale flagship events, regional activations and international campaigns.
Experience leading a project portfolio strategically, including modeling capacity, surfacing trade-offs to senior stakeholders and partnering with Finance.
Hands-on experience building or deploying AI-powered workflows and agents in an operational setting, including evaluating tools, implementation decisions and holding automated outputs accountable.
Experience monitoring vendor health, including SLA accountability and build/buy/extend recommendations.
Experience building project management teams, including hiring for a governance model and establishing team culture.
