About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of level designers, fostering collaboration and professional development
  • Drive the creative vision and execution of levels, ensuring they support gameplay, narrative, and artistic goals
  • Work closely with environment artists, narrative designers, and systems designers to deliver cohesive experiences
  • Review and provide feedback on level layouts, encounter balance, and worldbuilding consistency
  • Ensure all levels meet performance, quality, and accessibility standards
  • Contribute hands-on to level blockouts, encounter scripting, and gameplay prototyping
  • Establish and refine level design workflows, pipelines, and best practices for scalability and efficiency
  • Collaborate with production to scope, schedule, and track level design deliverables
  • Advocate for player experience, ensuring levels feel engaging, rewarding, and true to the vision of the game

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional level design experience in the game industry, with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior design role
  • Track record of shipping at least one title in a senior or leadership capacity
  • Understanding of encounter design, pacing, and player progression
  • Experience working with level design tools in engines such as Unity or Unreal
  • Collaborative mindset with experience guiding cross-disciplinary teams (art, design, and engineering)
  • Communication and documentation skills in a remote-first environment
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with ARPGs, live-service pipelines, and multi-team collaboration
