About the role
Responsibilities
- Support execution of capture plans for priority opportunities in partnership with portfolio Growth Leads and the Senior Director, Capture & Proposals
- Help coordinate and advance opportunity shaping activities across the capture lifecycle, including research, competitive analysis, stakeholder coordination, milestone tracking, and documentation
- Assist with development and maintenance of capture artifacts, including call plans, win themes, customer profiles, competitive assessments, and gate review materials
- Lead proposal process execution for assigned opportunities, including schedule development, compliance tracking, content coordination, color team reviews, and final submission support
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs from technical, program, contracts, pricing, and leadership teams to drive timely, compliant, and compelling proposal submissions
- Support solicitation analysis, outline development, requirements matrices, and proposal management activities
- Help improve proposal quality through strong organization, clear communication, and effective review incorporation
- Maintain capture and proposal data, templates, status reporting, and process documentation
- Identify risks, roadblocks, and gaps early, and work collaboratively to solve problems and keep efforts moving
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Forterra’s capture and proposal processes, tools, and best practices
Requirements
- Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in capture, proposals, business development operations, or defense acquisition-related roles
- Experience supporting the capture and/or proposal process for U.S. Government or Department of Defense opportunities
- Working knowledge of the defense acquisition environment, including government solicitations and proposal development workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, organized, and professional materials
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to work hard, take ownership, and solve problems with limited oversight
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence without direct authority
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to manage both internal relationships (cross functional teams) and external relationships (partners and vendors)
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering, operations, and leadership teams
- Familiarity with proposal and capture processes at both small and large federal government contractors
- Graphic design or desktop publishing experience
- Familiarity with government contracting and acquisition approaches across both FAR- and non-FAR based mechanisms (e.g., OTs)
- Familiarity with FMS and International procurement best practices and regulations
- Familiarity with SIBR/STTR processes and life cycle
