Senior / Staff Manufacturing Engineer - High Voltage Battery Assembly
Lead manufacturing strategy and assembly line development for high-voltage EV battery packs, including process development, factory layout, supplier management, and high-voltage safety protocols. Requires 8+ years manufacturing engineering experience and proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the manufacturing strategy, assembly sequences, and tooling requirements for high-voltage battery packs and modules.
- Lead factory layout planning, clean room specifications, and specialized environmental controls to ensure safe and efficient component handling.
- Develop, validate, and standardize critical battery manufacturing processes, focusing on precision laser welding and automated cell handling.
- Implement rigorous End-of-Line testing procedures, including high-potential and leak testing, while enforcing strict high-voltage safety and electrostatic discharge protocols.
- Partner with Battery and Powertrain design engineering teams during early development phases to optimize layouts for automated assembly, thermal management, and serviceability.
- Author comprehensive engineering standards, process failure mode analyses, and technical requirements for automated production lines.
- Manage technical relationships with tier-1 equipment suppliers and integrators from initial concept through factory acceptance testing and final line commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of manufacturing engineering experience, with a focus on launching electric vehicle battery pack or module assembly lines, or equivalent experience.
- Technical expertise in battery-specific manufacturing processes alongside high-voltage safety standards and electrostatic discharge compliance protocols.
- Experience generating equipment specifications and managing technical deliverables with tier-1 integrators, including a willingness to travel for vendor buyoffs and tool installations.
- Proficiency with engineering design and layout tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience scaling manufacturing operations within a greenfield or brownfield automotive or energy storage environment.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management and Manufacturing Execution Systems platforms within an automated production facility.
- Experience utilizing factory simulation software to model line flow and optimize operational efficiency.
