What You'll Do
- Architect the Mobile Clinical Experience: Build dynamic, high-performance mobile tools with deep integrations with Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect to ingest and visualize real-time patient data, and build secure messaging systems.
- Leverage the Expo Ecosystem: Use Expo, EAS for build pipelines, Config Plugins for custom native modules, and OTA updates for rapid iteration.
- Design for the Edge: Architect offline-first data synchronization and local caching for spotty connections.
- Champion the Mobile UX: Obsess over performance details like frame rates, navigation, keyboard avoidance, and accessibility.
- Build Agentic Workflows: Integrate AI capabilities into mobile interfaces to automate clinical operations.
- Raise the Engineering Bar: Own architectural decisions, establish code reuse patterns, and conduct code reviews.
Who You Are
- 5-7+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep focus on React Native and Expo; built and maintained complex mobile apps.
- Expert in Expo ecosystem: EAS builds, native module integration (e.g., HealthKit), app store guidelines.
- Master mobile state and performance: React render cycle, UI thread optimization, list rendering, async data fetching.
- Full lifecycle owner: CI/CD, monitoring (e.g., Sentry), app reliability.
- Use AI tools (e.g., Codex, Claude) to enhance workflows.
- Collaborative with low ego, high standards; thrive in regulated healthcare environments.
- Excited for 5 days/week onsite in San Francisco.
Staff level: Track record of technical direction and mentoring.
Stack: React Native, Expo, TypeScript, modern state management. Native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) a plus.
Salary Band: $230,000 - $280,000 (Staff: $280-330K)
