## Job Description

## Responsibilities

### New feature writing for Product
- Create effective documentation plans for new feature writing projects.
- Start conversations with stakeholders and keep teams informed and focused on a world-class customer experience.
- Raise issues and suggest improvements to new features based on user needs.

### Documentation projects
- Identify and advocate for medium- to large-scale documentation projects.
- Mentor less-senior writers on managing time across documentation projects and new feature releases.
- Independently prioritize high-impact work beyond new feature releases.

### Ongoing issues
- Independently troubleshoot documentation issue requests and help less-senior writers do the same.
- Identify when groups of issues should become a broader content-strategy improvement project.
- Notice overarching documentation issues and determine how to address them.
- Focus on complex issues, analyze data across multiple dimensions, evaluate solutions, and drive decisions.
- Triage and review open-source pull requests and issues, alerting the team when backlogs accumulate.

### Peer review
- Provide and explain insightful, compassionate editorial and technical feedback on peer work.
- Identify gaps beyond the pages included in a pull request and evaluate the underlying user problem.
- Build agreement, consolidate differing opinions, and help the team move forward.
- Center reviews on clarifying the user experience.

## Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience writing technical documentation for developer tools.
- Solid understanding of version control, single-sourcing content, and documentation systems.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute complex writing projects with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to give and receive editorial and technical feedback compassionately.
- Clear, concise communication, especially in asynchronous or distributed teams.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience with dbt or data.
- Experience as a senior member of a formal documentation team working with writers, editors, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience working asynchronously on a fully remote, distributed team.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining an open-source project.
