## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Lead the Burnaby engineering office as its visible, accountable on-site engineering authority.
- Own delivery and technical quality across growth engineering, pricing, experimentation, conversion, monetization, data science, and reframing systems.
- Lead and develop an approximately 10-person engineering team spanning growth engineering, B2B/enterprise delivery, DevOps/SRE, data engineering, and production- and data-sensitive systems.
- Set engineering standards, operating cadence, and expectations for an in-person, high-performance culture.
- Recruit, mentor, promote, and manage performance; develop the next generation of technical leaders.
- Build an AI-native engineering culture using AI agents in daily engineering workflows.
- Review designs, challenge architecture, unblock complex technical problems, and remain engaged with code and system design.
- Support platform/SRE, security, and B2B engineers through influence without direct reporting authority.
- Help ensure consistent standards for sign-on, PII, production access, and infrastructure security.
- Partner with engineering teams and leadership in Mountain View, Shanghai, and Chengdu, and with product and CX teams in Burnaby.
- Represent the Vancouver-area engineering organization in company-level decisions.

## Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years building software.
- 3+ years managing engineers.
- Experience turning around an engineering team and improving its performance.
- Experience coaching and developing engineers, including making difficult performance decisions.
- Ability to engage deeply in architecture and code-level technical discussions.
- Experience owning business or operational metrics such as conversion, pricing, revenue, reliability, or cost.
- Experience influencing and supporting engineers who do not report directly to you.
- Startup experience, preferably in AI or video.
- Willingness to work on-site in Burnaby five days per week.
- Comfort with rapid iteration, ambiguity, high intensity, and end-to-end reliability and security ownership.

## Nice-to-haves
- Growth engineering experience involving experimentation, conversion, or monetization.
- Enterprise or B2B engineering experience, including customer-facing delivery, integrations, or security reviews.
- Experience with security and compliance for PII-heavy systems, including SOC 2, access control, or data governance.
- Background in creator tools, video, or the creator economy.
- Experience growing an organization or site from a similar size to two or three times its size.

- Salary: CAD 230,000–350,000 annually.
