## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
- Promote appropriate technology and engineering best practices.
- Partner with teams across Lyft on organizational privacy initiatives.
- Partner with senior engineers to design, build, and maintain systems that enhance privacy across the organization.
- Independently lead tasks from idea to execution.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
- Support brown bags and tech talks, and champion appropriate technology and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to the development of controls and continuous testing, and design remediation and risk-mitigation solutions.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to enable privacy by design in products, services, and business processes.
- Anticipate problems and proactively suggest architectural improvements.

## Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Python, Java, or Go.
- Exposure to at least one operational or analytical data system, such as DynamoDB, Aurora, Redis, or Databricks.
- Proficiency in at least one query language, such as SQL, Cypher, MQL, or PL/SQL.
- Familiarity with distributed systems.
- Ability to learn and research new technologies rapidly and build scalable solutions.
- Ability to write thorough, scalable, and clear design documentation.
- Ability to manage an independent workload with guidance from senior engineers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or AI agents.
- Willingness to work through ambiguity and develop deployable solutions to complex problems.

## Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of privacy or security engineering.
- Experience with ETL tools such as Airflow, Spark, or Jupyter Notebooks.
- Familiarity with CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations.
- Experience with automation and creating tools for distributed systems.
