## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Build Harvey's government affairs and public policy function from the ground up, including its strategy, engagement framework, stakeholder relationships, policy positions, and operating infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain direct relationships with policymakers, regulators, bar associations, judicial and legislative bodies, and other institutions across the United States and, over time, internationally.
- Shape Harvey's public positioning on AI governance, the future of the legal profession, responsible technology deployment, and access to justice in partnership with senior leadership and communications.
- Maintain bipartisan and cross-jurisdictional credibility through substantive, principled engagement.
- Build collaborative relationships with policymakers globally and advocate for positions that support a vibrant, resilient legal ecosystem.
- Connect the external policy environment with product and go-to-market teams by surfacing regulatory requirements, public-sector opportunities, and policy implications of product decisions.
- Help position Harvey to serve government legal departments and regulated industries as those markets evolve.
- Hire and develop regional government affairs managers across key markets, initially in the United States and later in EMEA and APAC.
- Establish stakeholder tracking, regulatory monitoring, and policy calendar processes.

## Requirements
- Progressive experience in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory work, whether in-house, in government or regulatory roles, or in senior advisory work.
- J.D. strongly preferred.
- Policy-first orientation, with the ability to educate policymakers and build credibility through substantive expertise.
- Demonstrated experience building a function, setting strategy, and developing relationships from a standing start or significantly expanding an existing scope.
- Deep, trusted relationships with senior government, regulatory, and institutional stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with the legal industry, judiciary, or regulatory environment surrounding legal services and AI.
- Understanding of bar associations, courts, and government legal departments.
- Bipartisan credibility, intellectual integrity, and sound judgment in complex political, ethical, and commercial environments.
- Strong conviction about AI's potential to improve legal services and expand access to justice.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for high-stakes, high-visibility settings.
- Ability to represent company positions credibly before bar committees, judicial conferences, congressional staff, and international regulatory bodies.
