## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Lead major initiatives and own a large area of Shepherd's product experience across data collection, automated underwriting, and policy administration verticals.
- Drive technical decisions for your domain while working across the full stack and different disciplines (e.g., underwriting, design, product management).
- Take end-to-end ownership of features and systems from conception through release.
- Contribute to product strategy and architectural decisions.
- Mentor other engineers, help build engineering culture as the company scales, and collaborate closely with PM, CTO, underwriters, and actuaries.
- Ship high-quality product frequently while balancing innovation with pragmatic delivery.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

## Requirements
- 5+ years of working experience, preferably as a full-stack engineer, with a track record of delivering high-impact products.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (backend and/or frontend).
- Strong ownership mindset; thrive in ambiguity and enjoy wearing multiple hats (engineer, PM, designer).
- Passion for the built world, construction safety, and productivity.
- Interest in insurance (prior InsurTech or actuarial experience is a plus).
- Strong opinions, weakly held; advocate for ideas but adapt based on better solutions.
- Experience leading or making major contributions to significant projects.

## Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in insurance or InsurTech.
- Prior mentoring or leadership in engineering projects.
