## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain core infrastructure and features within Claude.ai and the Electron-based desktop app using TypeScript and React.
- Use native code, including Rust, Swift, and C++, to bring advanced features to the desktop app and connect Claude to macOS and Windows.
- Optimize application performance, memory usage, and startup time across platforms.
- Design and build robust update mechanisms and deployment pipelines.
- Create monitoring tools to track application performance and user experience.
- Develop an understanding of how advanced language models can augment people’s work on computers.

## Requirements
- **5+ years** of experience as a software engineer, with a strong emphasis on desktop application development.
- Practical experience with Electron and a deep understanding of its architecture.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills and experience with modern frontend frameworks.
- A product-focused approach with an emphasis on robust, scalable, and usable solutions.
- Experience developing native C++ modules to extend application capabilities.
- Understanding of macOS and/or Windows platform-specific technologies and development patterns.
- Experience with cross-platform application packaging, code signing, and distribution.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and work closely with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience building operating systems, browsers, or deeply OS-integrated software such as screensharing, video-calling, or game engines.
- Experience integrating and working with AI/ML models and understanding their capabilities.
- Demonstrated success implementing cross-platform development strategies.
- A vision for AI-powered desktop applications and the drive to make that vision a reality.
- Experience with inter-process communication and security in desktop applications.

## Compensation
- Annual salary: **$320,000–$485,000 USD**.
