## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Define and drive the machine learning engineering strategy for Discovery Mode and related royalty programs.
- Translate product goals into scalable technical solutions.
- Design, build, evaluate, ship, and refine production machine learning systems.
- Provide technical leadership across complex machine learning initiatives and guide architectural and engineering decisions.
- Collaborate with user research, design, data science, product management, and engineering teams to build product capabilities for artists and fans.
- Prototype new approaches and turn successful ideas into reliable, scalable solutions for Spotify for Artists customers.
- Drive experimentation, optimization, testing, and tooling to improve machine learning system quality, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Partner with engineering and machine learning practitioners across Spotify to develop new approaches to music promotion.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing and strong engineering practices.

## Requirements
- Deep experience with machine learning.
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, modeling approaches, evaluation, and experimentation.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing production machine learning systems at scale.
- Experience with Python, Java, Scala, or similar programming languages.
- Ability to set technical direction for complex machine learning problems while remaining involved in implementation and delivery.
- Experience leading technically complex projects from concept through production.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs, navigate ambiguity, and create clarity on high-impact initiatives.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical decisions and risks and building alignment with senior technical leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Commitment to reliable software, data-informed development, disciplined experimentation, and scalable systems.
