## Job Description

## What you'll do
- Advise on payments products and infrastructure, supporting initiatives involving payment rails, product launches, operational incidents, partner relationships, and customer-facing experiences.
- Partner across Product, Compliance, Risk, Engineering, Operations, Partnerships, and Legal teams as a low-ego, high-ownership thought partner bringing legal perspective early.
- Help launch new capabilities such as Zelle, identifying risks, evaluating options, and making decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Support financial crimes initiatives with AML Advisory, Sanctions, Compliance, and Risk teams by interpreting requirements, evaluating initiatives, and developing practical guidance.
- Build scalable frameworks and guidance to improve consistency, reduce friction, and enable better organizational decisions.
- Use AI tools intentionally in legal workflows to drive efficiency.
- Stay curious and adaptable in a quickly evolving regulatory and product landscape.

## What you should have
- 4+ years of legal experience.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience supporting fintechs, banks, payment companies, sponsor-bank programs, payment networks, BaaS providers, or regulators with substantial payments- or AML-related exposure.
- Strong working knowledge of payments-related regulatory frameworks, with interest in emerging areas like stablecoins.
- Familiarity with BSA/AML and sanctions requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills, tailoring to audience.
- Strong judgment and comfort in ambiguous environments.
- Proactive ownership and curiosity about financial products, infrastructure, and regulatory landscape.
- Strong working knowledge of AI use cases in legal roles or financial services, with interest in using AI for efficiency.

## Compensation
Target new hire base salary ranges:
- US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $186,400 - $209,700
- US employees outside of those areas: $167,800 - $188,700
- Canadian employees: $176,100 - $198,200 CAD

Total rewards include base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits. Offers based on experience, expertise, location, and internal pay equity.
