## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Manage a team of at least five employees, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and accountability.
- Translate enterprise data platform architecture into execution plans, backlogs, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead sprint planning, task decomposition, delegation, delivery, engineering reviews, and quality assurance.
- Establish maintainable, organized, and repeatable data engineering standards.
- Implement Medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers using Boomi, Rivery, dbt, Azure Databricks, Delta tables, and SQL Server.
- Partner with the Data Architect to create implementation patterns, reference pipelines, and guardrails.
- Establish DataOps and SDLC practices, including CI/CD, branching and release patterns, code reviews, runbooks, and operational readiness.
- Improve pipeline observability and reliability through monitoring of freshness, staleness, failures, and data quality signals.
- Lead incident and support response practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and scope platform-aligned work.
- Mentor engineers, develop future leaders, and create succession plans.

## Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in software or data engineering, including production data pipelines and data platforms.
- 2+ years in a lead capacity, including team leadership, task breakdown, reviews, delivery ownership, and cross-functional coordination.
- Direct people-management experience, including hiring or interviewing and formal performance reviews.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, Boomi or Rivery, and Delta Lake patterns.
- Strong ETL/ELT design and implementation experience across ingestion, orchestration, transformation, and curated data layers.
- Experience defining efficient data access patterns for upstream SQL Server systems, including read replicas, CDC, snapshot isolation, and batching.
- Expertise implementing Medallion architecture with clear Bronze, Silver, and Gold separation and consumer-access guardrails.
- Experience selecting ingestion strategies for APIs, CDC-enabled databases, and file drops.
- Track record of improving team maturity through standards, patterns, documentation, and predictable delivery.
- Strong communication, organization, prioritization, stakeholder-partnership, mentoring, and presentation skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams or similar communication tools.
- Experience working in fully remote teams is preferred.

## Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: **$140,000–$185,000 annually**.
- Compensation depends on level, skills, qualifications, experience, position requirements, and annual financial plans.
- Fully remote work with a monthly office stipend.
