## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Design and ship end-to-end applications from prototype to production across frontend, backend, and cloud.
- Build clean, scalable APIs and services and integrate AI models where they create real value.
- Create reliable, maintainable AI pipelines for data ingestion, preprocessing, embeddings, retrieval, and orchestration.
- Engineer prompting strategies and guardrails for latency, cost, and accuracy.
- Integrate AI features into full-stack applications with robust APIs, frontend UX, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver polished product experiences.
- Evaluate new AI tools and models for performance, cost, and fit.
- Write production-grade, testable, maintainable code in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python.

## Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven track record of shipping production applications.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, embeddings, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
- Strong command of modern web stacks and cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of architecture, scalability, performance, and security.
- Experience with testing, code reviews, monitoring, and observability.
- Clear communication, self-management, and comfort working in a collaborative remote environment.
- Ability to learn new languages and frameworks and use modern AI development tools.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience fine-tuning models or training custom models on domain-specific data.
- Contributions to open-source AI or developer tooling.
- Mature prompt engineering and evaluation practices.
- Background in data engineering or MLOps.
- Interest in AI alignment, agency-increasing technologies, and ethical AI development.

## Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range of $115,000–$185,000 per year for candidates based in LA.
- Equity in client projects and Skunkworks ventures.
- Equity is granted at a stated tax value of $0, with vesting and retention opportunities described by the company.
