## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Plan and execute laboratory experiments involving HIV infection studies in CNS-relevant cell types, including macrophages and astrocytes.
- Investigate HIV-induced HERV-K expression and its relationship to cellular senescence.
- Perform plasmid construction and preparation, gene expression and detection, and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing with homology-directed repair.
- Conduct molecular biology and cellular assays, including DNA/RNA preparation and quantification, sequencing, PCR, RT-PCR, real-time qPCR, DNA transfection, immunostaining, ELISA, Western blotting, cell imaging, phase-contrast and fluorescence microscopy, and electron microscopy.
- Work with laboratory staff and postdoctoral or biological scientists to interpret experiments and perform statistical analyses.
- Evaluate new laboratory techniques, instruments, and software for incorporation into standard operating procedures.
- Perform literature searches, design and test alternative and secondary assays, and contribute to collaborative research projects.
- Train staff on laboratory instruments and equipment, including HPLCs, balances, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, vacuum apparatus, and analytical equipment.
- Manage scientific equipment and resources, including reagents, frozen cell stocks, and animal samples; oversee acquisition, documentation, and storage.
- Write technical reports and research manuscripts and present findings at scientific meetings.

## Requirements
- Master's degree in Biology or a related field.
- At least five years of laboratory experience.
- Extensive knowledge of virology, cell and molecular biology, molecular genetics, and cellular biochemistry.
- Strong expertise in molecular biology and molecular genetics techniques, cellular immunophenotype analysis, and cell culture.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate research findings, interpret experimental procedures, and learn new techniques.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Microsoft Suite.

- Annual salary: $110,000-$113,000 USD.
