## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Own the organic growth strategy end-to-end across SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), including technical optimizations, content strategy, on-site experience, and visibility in general-purpose assistants such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity, as well as coding assistants such as Claude and Codex.
- Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team of SEO and AEO specialists, fostering experimentation, operational excellence, and continuous learning.
- Drive measurable improvements in organic visibility, rankings, citations, traffic, signups, sales inbound, and downstream activations across AEO and SEO.
- Improve how AI tools understand Stripe’s products and how to properly integrate them.
- Partner with product, engineering, content, growth, data science, and marketing teams to embed SEO/AEO best practices across web properties, documentation, and product surfaces.
- Build and evolve the SEO and AEO measurement framework, including attribution models, leading and lagging indicators, and revenue-impact measurement.
- Own the strategic AEO roadmap and establish the company’s perspective on how AI-generated answers reshape discovery.
- Improve content quality, website architecture, and structured data to maximize discoverability.
- Represent organic growth performance and strategy by translating technical SEO/AEO concepts into clear business-impact narratives.

## Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in SEO, including at least 3 years leading a team and 2+ years at a senior or leadership level engaging with executives.
- Expertise in technical SEO and content strategy, with a record of driving significant organic growth at scale.
- Deep understanding of AI-powered search and answer engines, including LLM-based retrieval, citation behavior, and entity recognition.
- Ability to improve content, website architecture, product surfaces, structured data, measurement, and cross-functional influence.
- Strong analytical foundation, including comfort with data, attribution challenges, and measurement frameworks that quantify organic-channel impact.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences and build strategic alignment around organic-growth investment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, content, and data science teams to implement SEO/AEO improvements at scale.
- Track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience with developer-focused or technical B2B products where documentation, API references, and technical content are significant organic surfaces.
- Background in international SEO strategy across multiple markets and languages.
- Experience building programmatic or product-led SEO at scale, including template pages, user-generated content, and dynamic landing pages.
- Early-mover experience monitoring, optimizing, or measuring visibility in AI-generated answers.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, metrics-driven culture and building investment cases through data and strategic narrative.
